World Masters - Long Qualification

Freemo's qualifying race at Ben Bullen put most of us into the rock, then swang us through some vague spur gully and (for M45 at least) through a bit more rock and over some heath. Richard Lauder, running M35, reflected on the changing nature of the orienteering - "Brilliant - it was like running on 4 different maps". Richard, mixing it with the big boys in M35 was enjoying what Mark described as the hardest course to plan.

Carol Osborne continued her "fast but steady" wins the race approach with two top 10 places to wind up 7th after qualifying with two of the top runners already out through mis-punching.

In W40 Alexa Troedson steeled herself to run hard on the second qualifying race to make sure that she didn't end up in the "only 3k" B final. 11th place on day 2 put her comfortably above the cut.

The Big Foot jokers contesting M45 showed their usual inconsistency. Mike Burton had a flier on day 1 and a debacle on day 2. Andy Simpson went from bad to terrible, while Mark Shingler went the other way. Simon George had two well-paced runs and no massive disasters. B[r]illo had a great run on day 2, coming 2nd, showing that he is much to mature for M45 and that M50 is only months away. In the wash-up Shingo should top the B final starters, while the rest (just) make the A final.

Long-distance SprintO at World Masters in Switzerland Tuesday, 3 August 2010 The Swiss organisers of WMOC 2010 put competitors to the test with their linear course planning. Whilst the start of the Sprint final was only a 5-10 minute walk from the assembly area, the finish was 2.4 km away, quite a feat when the longest course was the same distance. Best result for Big Foot runners was Tracy Bluett's 12th place in W35A, although ex-foot Mike Billinghurst came 11th in his new class, M50.
QB3 - 28 year run comes to an end ! Monday, 21 June 2010 Eoin's 28 year run without a mis-punch came to an end at the QB3 sprint event. A deceptively tricky course around two school campuses was the taster before two days of great bush orienteering.
Succesful Defence of Metro League Premiership Tuesday, 1 June 2010 Big Foot have successfully defended their A-grade metro league title under the captaincy of Simon "Gold Gold Gold" George. A solid off-the-bench run by Ant Burnett covered Paul Marsh's late withdrawal. More details to follow shortly.
Metro League Final: Big Foot v WHO double-header Monday, 3 May 2010 The Metro league final will see Big Foot take on WHO in the A division final, whilst in division C we'll battle another WHO team for the wooden spoon.
Easter Monday - 5 class winners ! Monday, 5 April 2010 In a somewhat surprising end to the Easter 3 days, Big Foot ended up with 5 class winners - about the same as the number of classes we normally compete across. Congratulations to Jock, Miles, Eoin, Alastair and Rachel.
Easter Sunday - Run(s) of the Day: Alastair, Kerrin & Rachel Sunday, 4 April 2010 Great runs from Alastair, Kerrin & Rachel who all did almost the same time for their course were the Little Feet highlights. Eoin and Miles continued their domination of M35 and M50 respectively while Jock Davis grabbed a slender lead from Jonno McComb in M40.
Easter Saturday - Run(s) of the Day: Eoin wins & Tracy hits back ! Saturday, 3 April 2010 Wins for new feet Eoin Rothery (M50A) and Miles Ellis (M35A) started the day and in the late-starting W21E Tracy Marsh made up for her disappointing race in the prologue with a sizzling run on the complex granite of Namadgi, placing 2nd.
Good Friday - Run of the Day: Mike shows elites a thing or two sprints Friday, 2 April 2010 While a lot of Big Feet at Easter chose to miss the prologue, held at ADFA (Duntroon), and others ran the medium course, Mike Burton had a stellar run on the elite sprint course.

Sydney Sprint Series - Balls Head Monday, 8 March 2010 Andy Hill was top of the pile at Big Foot's Sprint series race today, planned by Jock Davis using Garingal's Balls Head map. Thanks Jock, Terry and Garingal for helping Big Foot put on a fun event. Tracy Marsh continued her excellent Sprint form and must surely be warming as a contender for Big Foot Sprints.
Dream debut for Rebecca, nightmare for Big Foot Sunday, 7 March 2010 Rebecca George had a dream debut for Big Foot, scoring well in our Div 3 team and clocking up the club's second fastest finish of the day. Sadly both division one and two teams were beaten.

Summer Sprints - UTS Lindfield Monday, 1 February 2010 Ian Meyer continued his form from last weeks sprint and held off Andy Hill to win at UTS Lindfield. Gamekeeper turns poacher Monday, 18 January 2010 Michael Burton, fresh from planning last week's excellent Summer Series has grabbed his first win in the Sydney Sprints after a couple of third places. Provisional results from today's race put him almost 30 seconds clear of second place.

Sydney Sprints hots up for Big Foot runners Sunday, 17 January 2010 The more technical nature of the Sydney Sprint series is drawing big Big Foot numbers to the races. So far Big Foot's Michael Burton and Tracy Marsh have been the series most consistent runners, but neither has had an outright victory (although Tracy was the fastest woman in both races).
